When I first began to learn about cologne I was simply interested in finding the best fragrance for me; all I wanted to do was find that one perfect scent that would be able to wow others. Since then, however, I have learned much about the world of perfumery and the industry that pushes it forward. And, quite simply, it’s all very fascinating from multiple viewpoints.
- First, perfumery is an art. It allows for creativity and aesthetics. It is firmly entrenched within human culture, and has been for ages.
- Second, perfumery is a science. It was helped along by some of the greatest thinkers of all time, and as we learn more about perfumes and colognes, we learn more about ourselves (and our olfactory systems, which I could dedicate a whole other site to).
- Third, it is a multi-billion dollar industry. Anyone interested in economics should study this industry, as it is one of the most successful beauty industries, and its ads are always executed flawlessly.
With my new-found appreciation and knowledge of perfumery, I felt that I should help others who were in my position by making it easier for them to find the perfect fragrance and the perfect price. For now I will stick to writing basic informational pieces, although as time goes on I might very well turn this into a more blog-like site that comments on recent perfumery news (or maybe a mixture of both): time will tell.
